Minutes of West Lafayette Village Council Regular Meeting on September 10, 2001

West Lafayette Village Council met in regular session at 7:00 P.M., in the municipal building with Mayor Jack Patterson presiding.

Pledge of Allegiance

Roll Call:        Steve Bordenkircher, Kelly Gossett, Ron Lusk, Dave Rogers, Roger Warne and Jan Shannon

(6 members present)

Motion to approve minutes of meeting held on August 27, 2001.

            Made and seconded by: Lusk / Rogers             (R.C. 4 yes 2 abstentions)

Ordinances:

            Res. 25-2001 a resolution to amend the appropriation ordinance 6-2001 to add funds was give a second reading. Bordenkircher / Gossett made and seconded a motion to suspend the rules and give Res. 25-2001 a third reading. (R.C. 6 yes) Res. 25-2001 was given a third reading. Rogers / Gossett made and seconded a motion to adopt Res. 25-2001. (R.C. 6 yes) Res. 25-2001 was adopted.

Reports:

            Village Administrator – The King Street paving project and Main Street waterline projects were discussed. The VA presented council with the estimates from Maple & Sons for repair of the garage roof and the renovation of the salt bin. Bordenkircher / Lusk made and seconded a motion to authorize the expenditure of $3650.00 for the repair of the garage roof. (R.C. 6 yes)

            Police Chief – The Chief presented council with the monthly police report for August that is attached and made part of these minutes. The Chief requested funding of 2 items for the department to replace out dated, obsolete equipment. Item 1 was a computer system with peripherals and item 2 was a Doppler radar unit.  Also discuss were some optional software systems for police work. Bordenkircher / Shannon made and second a motion to approve the expenditure of $4300 for the computer system and $1200 for the radar unit. (R.C. 6 yes)

            Fire (Shannon) - Fire Chief Hill and Assistant Chief Hill were present to discuss and request the purchase of a used tanker truck for the fire department. The Mayor is to consult with the village solicitor and report back on financing options.

            Pool (Rogers) – Lusk / Gossett made and seconded a motion to approve the hiring of Astro Pool to perform pressure tests on the circulating system to checks for leaks. (R.C. 6 yes)

            COC Rep (Rogers) – The Chamber of Commerce will be sponsoring a chili dinner on October 5 from 5 to 7 pm at the eat stand.

Bordenkircher / Lusk made and seconded a motion to approve the payment of 2 invoice with now and then certifications attached. (R.C. 6 yes) Bordenkircher / Lusk made and seconded a motion to approve payment of the other bills as presented. (R.C. 6 yes)

Lusk / Gossett made and seconded a motion to adjourn until the next regular council meeting on September 24, 2001, at 7:00 P.M. in the Council Chambers. (R.C. 6 yes)
