AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING THE PERSON(S) HOLDING THE POSITION(S)
OF VILLAGE OF WEST LAFAYETTE CLERK/TREASURER AND VILLAGE OF
WEST LAFAYETTE TAX ADMINISTRATOR TO BE PERSONALLY BONDED IN
THE AMOUNT OF $20,000 FOR EACH POSITION AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the Ohio Rev. Code Section 705.27 requires the person holding the
position of treasurer and / or tax administrator to be personally bonded;
and
WHEREAS, the Village of West Lafayette has an individual holding those offices;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF WEST LAFAYETTE,
STATE OF OHIO as follows:
Section 1. The person holding the elected office
of Village Clerk-Treasurer be bonded for the amount of $20,000 for the length
of the term;
Section 2. The person appointed to the position of Tax Administrator be
bonded for the amount of $20,000 for no less than one year at a time;
Section 3. Any ordinance or resolution in conflict herein shall be amended
to conform to sections 1 and 2;
Section 4. This ordinance is hereby declared an emergency measure for
the immediate protection of the public funds in trust to the Village Clerk-Treasurer
and Tax Administrator, the emergency being the need for the proper functioning
of the Village Government and police and fire services necessary for the protection
of the lives and property of the citizens of the Village of West Lafayette,
Ohio. This ordinance shall therefore take effect and be in full force immediately
upon its passage by Council.
