AN ORDINANCE TO ADOPT THE YEAR 2002 PAY SCALE FOR THE ELECTIVE OFFICIALS AND VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF WEST LAFAYETTE, OHIO, AND TO REPEAL ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT THEREWITH

WHEREAS, in order to compensate the elective Officials and Council Members of the Village of West Lafayette, State of Ohio properly, it is necessary to adjust and modify the pay scales of the elective Officials and Council Members of the Village of West Lafayette, State of Ohio, in order to have satisfactory rates for calendar year 2002:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the council of the Village of West Lafayette, State of Ohio, as follows:

SECTION I: That the rates of compensation of the following Village Officials and Council Members effective January 1, 2001 shall be and herewith are established as follows:

MAYOR-COUNCIL PRESIDENT      $5,500.00 annual  Paid Monthly

COUNCIL MEMBERS                         $83.50 per regular meeting

                            $10.00 per special meeting attended

CLERK/TREASURER                          $30,342.00 annual     Paid bi-weekly

The above rates of compensation for Council Members shall apply to all Council Members, including the President  Pro Tempore. Council members shall be paid for a regular scheduled council meeting when attended or when excused by the majority of the vote of council members present.

Each Village Official and Council Member shall be entitled to receive the above rates of compensation commencing the first day of January of the earliest calendar year for which a pay increase may be lawfully received by a given Village Official or Council Member under applicable constitutional provision, statutes, ethics opinions, and State Auditor authorizations; before such date said Village official or council Member shall be entitled to receive compensation at the rates heretofore in force as provided by prior applicable Village Ordinances and Resolutions.

SECTION II: All provisions of ordinances and resolutions inconsistent with the provisions herein shall be and herewith are amended to extent they otherwise would be applicable to the pay rates of the above categories and classifications on and after January 1, 2002, or such other effective date of compensation change as provided herein, otherwise however they shall remain in full force and effect.
