AN ORDINANCE TO ADOPT THE 2003 PAY SCALE FOR THE POLICE
DEPARTMENT OF THE VILLAGE OF WEST LAFAYETTE, OHIO, AND TO REPEAL ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT
THEREWITH
WHEREAS, in order to compensate the officers and patrolmen
of the Police Department of the Village of West Lafayette, State
of Ohio, properly, it is necessary to adjust and modify the
pay scales for the various classes and ranks of the Police
Department of the Village of West Lafayette, in order to have
satisfactory rates for calendar year 2003.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the Council of the Village
West Lafayette, State of Ohio, as follows:
SECTION I: The rates of compensation of various officials
and officers and employees of the Police Department of the Village
of West Lafayette, State of Ohio, effective December 29, 2002,
shall be and herewith are established as follows:
Patrolmen:
Class I $10.10 per hour Temporary Part
Time
Class II $11.17 per hour Permanent Full
Time
Officers:
Sergeant $11.69 per hour Permanent Full
Time
Lieutenant $12.15 per hour Permanent Full
Time
Captain $12.53 per hour Permanent Full
Time
SECTION II: Temporary part time employees shall be and herewith
are defined as those employees that work thirty, (30) hours
or less in a scheduled work week. Temporary part time employees
shall not be permitted to work in excess of thirty (30) hours
per week, unless it is approved by Village Council. With Village
Council's approval temporary part time employees may work up
to six weeks in excess of thirty (30) hours per week. Such work
in excess of six weeks shall not be approved.
SECTION III: Over time pay at the rate of one and one half
(1 & 1/2) times the regular per hour pay shall be paid for
hours in excess of 40 (forty) within a scheduled pay week.
SECTION IV: Any permanent full time employee of the police
department who is scheduled to work on a paid holiday shall
receive two and one half (2 & 1/2) times the regular per
hour pay for the hours worked on that holiday.
SECTION V: All provision of Ordinances and Resolutions inconsistent
with the provisions herein shall be and herewith are amended
to the extent they otherwise would be applicable to the pay
rates of the above pay categories and classifications on and
after December 29, 2002, otherwise however, they shall remain
in full force and effect.
