Record of Proceedings
West Lafayette Village Council met in regular session
at 7:00 P.M., in the municipal building with Mayor Jack L. Patterson
presiding.
Pledge of Allegiance
Roll
Call: Dave Rogers, Roger Warne, Kelly Gossett, Ron Lusk, Christie
Maurer and Stephen Bordenkircher were present.
A motion
was made and seconded to approve the minutes of the January 26, 2004 council
meeting. (RC 6 yes)
Mayor’s
Correspondence – A letter from the County Commissioners requesting complete
information on CDBG Issue II funding applications. Mayor received survey
documents for annexation areas. He will forward to the Village Solicitor.
Reports:
Fire
(Lusk) – The committee is starting the process of reviewing and possibly
modifying the fire contracts with the surrounding townships. The required
documents for the fire run pay was discussed and the Mayor requested the
information be delivered to the village office by the ten of the following
month. The clerk is to keep a running estimate of pay and benefit costs
incurred. The fire dept. was very busy this weekend pumping out basements
due to the high water. A couple of the village employees were also busy with
assisting in the mitigation of water damages.
Insurance
(Gossett) – The village administrator has requested quotes for
liability/property insurance and hopes to have those available for review in
the next 2 or 3 weeks.
Utility
(Bordenkircher) – He reported he had been approached by Joy Padgett, State
Senator, and she is offering to become involved in the Penn-Michigan project
again.
Clerk –
The wireless hub in the council chambers is up and running so the laptop is
available now to council members.
Fiscal
Officer Search Committee – The committee received 35 resumes for the
position and have scheduled interviews. They hope to have a recommendation
for the Mayor by February 23rd.

was made and seconded to approve the payment of bills as presented.

At 7:25 PM a motion was made and seconded to move into
executive session to discuss a personnel issue. (RC 6 yes)
At 7:58 PM a motion was made and seconded to return to
regular session. (RC 6 yes)
A motion was made and seconded to approve the
employment agreement for the Fiscal Officer. (RC 6 yes)
A motion was made and seconded to adjourn until the
next regular meeting on February 23, 2004 at 7:00 P.M. (RC 6 yes)
