West Lafayette Village Council met in regular session
at 7:00 P.M., in the municipal building with Mayor Jack L. Patterson
presiding.
Pledge of Allegiance
Roll Call: Dave Rogers, Roger Warne, Kelly
Gossett, Ron Lusk, Christie Maurer and Stephen Bordenkircher were present.
A motion
was made and seconded to approve the minutes of the April 26, 2004 council
meeting. (RC 6 yes)

Reports:
VA-
Working on swimming pool found and working on problems with a shut off
drain. Final touches are being made concerning new insurance. Meeting with
Ohio EPA concerning Fresno Waste Water project – May 18th at
11:00 am
Police
(Chief) - New cruiser in service. Lettering changed on other cruiser to
match new one. April monthly report given.

(Maurer) – News letter out soon.
Fire
(Lusk) - Approach way finished It will be 30 days before the big trucks
can be driven on it. 9 runs for the month of April. Monthly run sheets given
to Mayor and Clerk. Application for formula money ($20,000.00) turned in.
Grant App
(Lusk) - Turned in application for funding for blacktopping project. Also
met with Department of Development for any funding help on various projects.
Insurance
(Gossett) – Continuing final touches. Waiting on booklets.
Ordinance
(Warne) –Met and reviewed 5 proposed ordinances concerning Defect Ordinance;
Commercial Auto Fleet Safety Program; Sidewalk Law; Sexual Harassment and
Sewer Back up claim prevention . Drafts need to be sent to Mr. Owens for
review.
Planning
(Lusk) – Need to review books. Question on Section R1 with frontage depth
and rear depth. Setup combined meeting with Zoning Appeals Board
Pool
(Rogers) – Sold 7 season tickets the first day (May 10th).
Chamber (
Maurer) – Yellow flag sales are over. Members commented that they noticed
more people in the Village, especially on Russell and Union Avenue. Working
on Homecoming.
Clerk’s
- Income Tax training in Dayton on May 19, 20 and 21st.
Other:
Mayor reported that Ohio Mayors Conference is scheduled for June 16, 17 and
18th in Portsmouth. A motion was made and seconded to approve
the purchase by the Fiscal Officer of a keypad, mouse and external floppy
drive for the Laptop. (RC 6 yes) Concerns were shared concerning properties
that aren’t being mowed. Owners are in violation of Ordinance 2001-09. Two
properties are to be checked into.
