Minutes of West Lafayette Village Council Regular Meeting on December 20, 2004

 

West Lafayette Village Council met in regular session at 7:00 P.M., in the municipal building with Mayor Jack L. Patterson presiding.

 

Pledge of Allegiance

 

Roll Call:          Dave Rogers, Roger Warne, Kelly Gossett, Ron Lusk, Christie Maurer and Stephen Bordenkircher were present.

 

A motion was made and seconded to approve the minutes of the December 13, 2004 council meeting. (RC 6 yes)

Introduction to ordinances and resolutions:

Resolution 2004-28. Resolution for Certification of Millage for replacement of Tax Levy.   A motion was made and seconded to suspend the rules (RC 6 yes) A motion was made and seconded to adopt resolution 2004-28. (RC 6 yes)

Village Administrator:   N/A

Police:   N/A

Annexation:   N/A

Community Service:   Newsletter early Feb. Members to be working on articles, due end of Jan.

Finance:   Appropriations done.  Finances ok for 2005. Need to start watching tax base.  Unemployment high in the area.  Need to watch finances very carefully.

Fire:  N/A

Fire Dependency Board:  N/A

Grant Applications:   N/A

Insurance:  N/A

Ordinance:  N/A

Planning Commission:  N/A

Pool:  N/A

Rep to Chamber of Commerce:  N/A

Utility:   Questioned if Village is ready for bad weather.  VA reported that salt has been delivered and more in reserve.

Zoning:   N/A

Clerk’s report:  N/A

 

 Other Business:

Bordenkircher reported that new business General Recovery, Inc. will be opening first week of January, 2005 with 2 full time and 3 part time employees and looking forward to growth.

  Ordinance 16-2000. Points made that:  (1) Ordinance is in conflict with Building/Zoning/Planning Book.  (2) Muskingum County Building Department changed name to Mid-East Ohio Building. Never notified the Village  (3) Section IV holds Village liable and holds Mid-Eastern harmless.  A motion was made and seconded to rescind Ordinance 16-2000, effective immediately.  (RC 5 yes 1 Abstain)

 

Committee Meetings:  None

 

A motion was made and seconded to approve the payment of bills as presented.

(RC 6 yes)

 

A motion was made and seconded to adjourn until the next regular meeting on January 10, 2005 at 7:00 P.M. (RC 6 yes)
