Minutes of West Lafayette Village Council Regular Meeting on April 25, 2005

 

West Lafayette Village Council met in regular session at 7:00 P.M., in the municipal building with Mayor Jack L. Patterson presiding.

 

Pledge of Allegiance

 

Roll Call:          Dave Rogers, Roger Warne, Kelly Gossett, Ron Lusk, Christie Maurer and Stephen Bordenkircher were present.

 

A motion was made and seconded to approve the minutes of the April 11, 2005 council meeting. (RC 6 yes)

 

Mayor’s Correspondence – Information regarding radio ads in support of levy.

 

Citizens’ comments

Boy Scout Troop 419 was present to observe council meeting.

            Renee & Terrence Bates – Complaint of neighbor on East Russell Ave having vehicles and mowers sitting everywhere.  Cars and trucks have no tags. Pictures were passed to council.  VA to look in to complaint.

 

Reports:

Village Administrator:   Update on funding application for paving Gay & Center Street was already approved for this year.  Apply for Center street with a 20% fund match. ($3900.00)  Meeting at Commissioners office at 9:45, Wednesday, April 27th.   Continue to work on punch list at WWTP, should be finished by end of May.  Work on Brownfield application is continuing.

Annexation:  N/A

Community Service:   Planters should be decorated by May 6th & &7th .

Finance:  Bordenkircher working with Ed Chapdelaine.  Passed out levy information comparing present levy and renewal levy. An account has been set by levy committee at Home Loan and Savings.  Mayor explained the amount of General Fund budget, the Police Dept, Fire Dept. and Debt service budget and how it affects the General Fund.  He also explained to the public that the General Fund has been cut by $81,000.00.  Motion was made and seconded to approve “as to content” the radio ads.  (RC 6 yes).  Door to door campaign will be Sunday, May 1st.

Fire:   Volunteer Firemen’s Association purchased a 6-wheeled ATV for the dept’s use.  Will have it at council next meeting.

Fire Dependency Board:  N/A

Grant Applications:   Street paving for 2006

Insurance:  N/A

Ordinance:  Clarified there is a junk vehicle ordinance in place.  125 vehicles were removed from the village last year.

Planning Commission:  N/A

Pool:  N/A

Rep to Chamber of Commerce:  Yellow Flag Sales May 6th & 7th.  60+ have signed up as of date.  Listing will be in Coshocton Tribune and Free Enterpriser.

Zoning:  N/A

Clerk’s report:   Auditor’s are finished.  Should have report in two weeks.  Income Tax  filing is almost complete.  Delinquency letters will be sent after May 1st.  Unemployment Comp appeal was denied.

Other Business:   Hot mix needed at Center Street and Russell Ave.  Approximately  8 tons have used to date.  Card from Coshocton Public Library regarding an outdoor dedication of the Rotary Club’s Reading Shelter.  All was invited to attend.  Introduction of Boy Scouts.

Committee Meetings:                        Finance                         May 9th                        6:30

 

A motion was made and seconded to approve the payment of bills as presented.

A motion was made and seconded to adjourn until the next regular meeting on May 9, 2005 at 7:00 P.M. (RC 6 yes)
