West Lafayette Village Council met in regular session
at 7:00 P.M., in the municipal building with Mayor Jack L. Patterson
presiding.
Pledge of Allegiance
Roll
Call: Dave Rogers, Roger Warne, Kelly Gossett, Ron Lusk, Christie
Maurer and Stephen Bordenkircher were present.
A motion
was made and seconded to approve the minutes of the May 9, 2005 council
meeting. (RC 6 yes)
Mayor’s
Correspondence – 2004-05 Guide for Municipalities received by the Mayor.
Letter from Quicksaw &
Associates giving the council information of available
funding.
Citizens’ comments – Jack Mardis requesting council
look at ordinance 13-82 regarding Unnecessary Noise. Mayor referred matter
to the ordinance committee for review. Will review and contact Mr. Mardis
to attend ordinance meeting.
A motion
was made and seconded to accept corrections made to Ordinance 2004-27.
Corrections made were: Total General Fund $488,250.00; 2005 Permanent
Appropriations Grand Total 1,339,114.00 (RC 6 yes)
Introduction to ordinances and resolutions:
2005-07 An Ordinance to Establish the Year 2005 Pay
Scale for Fiscal Officer of the Village of West Lafayette, Ohio, and to
Repeal Ordinances and Resolutions in Conflict Therewith. A motion was
made and seconded to suspend the rules (RC 6 yes) A motion was made and
seconded to adopt Ordinance 2005-07. (RC 6 yes)
2005-08 A Resolution to Add Additional
Appropriations to the 2005 Permanent Appropriations Ordinance 2004-27,
adding $50.00 to the General Fund (101), Dept (301) Parks, and $6180.80 to
the Sewer Fund, Dept (801) Gen Obligation. A motion was made and
seconded to suspend the rules (RC 6 yes). A motion was made and seconded to
adopt Resolution 2005-08.
2005-09 A Resolution to Transfer Monies within (601)
Water Fund, Dept (801) Gen Obligation and within (602) Sewer Fund, Dept
(801) Gen Obligation. A motion was made and seconded to suspend the
rules (RC 6 yes). A motion was made and seconded to adopt Resolution
2005-09.
Reports:
Village Administrator: Pool painting is
completed and is filled. Start to add chemicals this week. VA gave council
a memo regarding Gay Street paving project. Estimate has increased from
$17,776.00 to $21,162.00 (an increase of $3,386.) Waiting on bids. Notices
are being served regarding high grass and junk cars. VA is following up on
Russell Ave. complaint.

Community Service: N/A
Finance: N/A
Fire: 19 runs in April. New vehicle is being
lettered. Will be ready for Homecoming Parade. Will have available for
council next meeting.
Fire Dependency Board: N/A
Grant Applications: N/A
Insurance: N/A
Ordinance: N/A
Planning Commission: N/A
Pool: Thanks to VA and workers for getting the
pool ready and for the information being put on TV.
Rep to Chamber of Commerce: June 11th
– Strawberry Festival; Homecoming July 20-23.
Utility: N/A
Clerk’s report: Received Certificate of Result
of Election from Election Board. Membership to Municipal Clerk’s
Association is due. Received notification from Ohio Police and Fire
concerning upcoming seminars and new reporting requirements. Council
received copies of Audit Report. Bordenkircher felt village received a very
good audit.
Other Business: Mayor’s conference May 31st-June
4th. Council observed a moment of silence in respect for Lorena
Simms, who passed away last week. Calling hours were Sunday and funeral
Monday. Ms. Sims served on council 21 years.
