West Lafayette Village Council met in regular session
at 7:00 P.M., in the municipal building with Mayor Jack L. Patterson
presiding.
Pledge of Allegiance
Roll
Call: Dave Rogers, Roger Warne, Kelly Gossett, Ron Lusk, Christie
Maurer and Stephen Bordenkircher were present.
A motion
was made and seconded to approve the minutes of the May 23, 2005 council
meeting. (RC 6 yes)
Mayor’s
Correspondence –N/A
Citizens’
comments – Ed & Dorothy Davis concerned about noise ordinance. Strongly
object to changing ordinance. Told council that a neighbor started a race
car and their house and windows shook. They feel they can’t enjoy sitting
outside because of noise. Also neighbor has a 4-wheeler they run in yard.
Warne said ordinance committee held first meeting regarding this matter and
are trying to gather as much information as possible.
Introduction to ordinances and resolutions:
RESOLUTION 2005-10 A RESOLUTION TO AMEND THE 2005
PERMANENT APPROPRIATIONS ORDIANCE 2004-27, ADDING $1,400.00 TO THE GENERAL
FUND (101) DEPT. (102) FIRE DEPT AND REDUCING THE POOL FUND (605) BY
$3,000.00. A motion was made and seconded to suspend the rules (RC 6
yes) A motion was made and seconded to adopt resolution 2005-10. (RC 6 yes)
Reports:
Village Administrator: Application for Phase II
completed and at the Library for public inspection. Sign changed. Public
hearing will be held August 8th at 6:00 pm in council chambers.

Finance: Met 6/13 and discussed current
revenues and expenses. Start to work on budget.
Fire: Fire Department had new 6-wheeled vehicle
for council before meeting. 12 runs so far for this month.
Fire Dependency Board: N/A
Grant Applications: Waiting on bids for 6th
Street paving
Insurance: N/A
Ordinance: Discussed information from Gates
McDonald. Group rate for Worker’s Compensation. Can save 85% on rates. A
motion was made and seconded to sign up with Gates McDonald (RC 6 yes).
Planning Commission: N/A
Pool: Pool opened June 6th. Things
running smoothly. 98 passes sold so far versus 195 sold in 2004 as of this
date.
Rep to Chamber of Commerce: Strawberry
Festival held past weekend. Working on Homecoming.
Utility: N/A
Clerk’s report: Discussed quotes for new Web
hosting. Waiting on one more quote. Clerk will have proposal ready for
next council meeting. Letter received from Auditor of State regarding
Audit. Report is acceptable and will certify with the Clerk of the Bureau.

Other Business: Mayor reported on Mayor’s
Conference in Toledo. Mayor’s were told that village’s will not receive any
cuts in Local Government Fund this year. Village has yet to receive word.
Passed out information regarding Municipal Government in Ohio.
