Minutes of West Lafayette Village Council Regular Meeting on July 11, 2005

 

West Lafayette Village Council met in regular session at 7:00 P.M., in the municipal building with Mayor Jack L. Patterson presiding.

 

Pledge of Allegiance

 

Roll Call:          Dave Rogers, Roger Warne, Kelly Gossett, Ron Lusk, Christie Maurer and Stephen Bordenkircher were present.

 

A motion was made and seconded to approve the minutes of the June 27, 2005 council meeting. (RC 6 yes)

 

Mayor’s Correspondence – Legislative Bulletin – Local Gov’t Funds at “freeze level”.  

 

Citizens’ comments – Don Rogan, 320 E Main Street, concerns about dogs running loose, loud mufflers, stereos in cars and loud noise in general.

 

Introduction to ordinances and resolutions: N/A

 

Reports:

Village Administrator:  Working on streets, painting curbs and crosswalks.  Shopping for health care insurance.

Police:  Report from June

Community Service:  N/A

Finance:   Met July 11, 2005 and held public budget hearing.  Finance committee recommends adopting budget for 2006.  A motion was made and seconded to adopt the budget for 2006. (RC 6 yes) Received letter from County Auditor stating local government funding has been restored.  Gave the village an Amended Certificate of Estimated Resource including total apportionment of funds for 2005.

Fire:  Calls in June: 17.  Helped City of Coshocton with large fire over the weekend.

Fire Dependency Board:   N/A

Grant Applications:  N/A

Insurance:  N/A

Ordinance:  Met and discussed noise ordinance.  Committee would like to meet with William Owens to prepare first draft.  Request from village employee to be paid by the village when she is called out for CERT during working hours.  After discussion, council felt that employee should not be paid by the village as CERT is a voluntary action.

Planning Commission:  N/A

Pool:   Report of revenue $17073.42 vs expenses 14424.78

Rep to Chamber of Commerce:  Working on Homecoming.  Parade is Thursday, July 21st @ 7:00 pm on Russell Ave.  Chief Bradshaw has already scheduled officers for work.  VA scheduled streets to be blocked.  Also Rogers stated that there are Pepsi trailers available.

Utility:  N/A

Zoning:  N/A

Clerk’s report:   FrontPage has been installed.  Waiting on Brawal to transfer domain to Clover

 

Other Business:  N/A

A motion was made and seconded to approve the payment of bills as presented.
