Minutes of West Lafayette Village Council Regular Meeting on December 12, 2005

 

West Lafayette Village Council met in regular session at 7:00 P.M., in the municipal building with Mayor Jack L. Patterson presiding.

 

Pledge of Allegiance

 

Roll Call:          Dave Rogers, Roger Warne, Kelly Gossett, Ron Lusk, Christie Maurer and Stephen Bordenkircher were present.

 

A motion was made and seconded to approve the minutes of the November 28, 2005 council meeting. (RC 5 yes 1 Abstain)

 

Mayor’s Correspondence – Letter from Ryan Moyer Modern Office Methods, offering services for securing office equipment and service support. 

                        Walter H Mayer – Codification Service for Villages

 

Citizens’ comments – N/A

 

Introduction to ordinances and resolutions:

 ORDINANCE 2005-20: AN ORDINANCE TO ESTABLISH 2006 BENEFIT, PAY SCHEDULE/SCALE FOR THE VILLAGE OF WEST LAFAYETTE. A motion was made and seconded to suspend the rules (RC 6 yes).  A motion was made and seconded to adopt Ordinance 2005-20. (RC 6 yes).

ORDINANCE 2005-21: AN ORDINANCE TO HIRE A SOLICITOR FOR THE YEAR 2006. A motion was made and seconded to suspend the rules (RC 6 yes).  A motion was made and seconded to adopt Ordinance 2005-21. (6 yes).

Committee Reports:

Village Administrator:  Leaf equipment cleaned up and put away.  Snow and ice equipment put on and is in use.  25 tons of salt will be delivered 12/13/05.  Update on Jack Mardis.  Jack is in Grant Hospital, Columbus with severe health problems.

Police:  Report from November 2005

Still having some problems with Car #2.  Will monitor closely.

Annexation:   N/A

Community Service:  Newsletter info due next week.  Comments were made on how nice the baskets look on Main Street.

Finance:  Met and review finances.  Appropriation Ordinance will be ready for next meeting.

Fire:   Held Christmas dinner on Sunday.  Council members were not contacted.  16 runs for November.

Fire Dependency Board:   Have report for next meeting.

Grant Applications:  N/A

Insurance:  N/A

Ordinance:  N/A

Planning Commission:  Still looking for a secretary.

Pool:  N/A

Rep to Chamber of Commerce:  N/A

Utility:  N/A

Solicitor:  N/A

Clerk’s report:  Monthly revenue and expense reports are available for review.  Fiscal Officer gave a report on “Look-alike” Statement Training held in New Philadelphia.   Very complicated process.

A motion was made and seconded to approve the payment of bills as presented.

A motion was made and seconded to go into Executive Session for discussion of possible land purchase/sale at 7:55 pm. (RC 6 yes)

A motion was made and seconded to return to Regular Session at 9:05 pm. (RC 6 yes)

No action taken

 

A motion was made and seconded to adjourn until the next regular meeting on December 21, 2005 at 7:00 P.M. (RC 6 yes)
