West Lafayette Village Council met in regular session
at 7:00 P.M., in the municipal building with Mayor Jack L. Patterson
presiding.
Pledge of Allegiance
Oath of Elected Council by William Owens: Rogers,
Maurer, Gossett
A motion was made and seconded to appoint Gary Loos to
the vacant council seat (RC 5 yes).
Oath of Office by William Owens : Loos
Roll
Call: Dave Rogers, Roger Warne, Kelly Gossett, Ron Lusk, Christie
Maurer and Gary Loos were present.
A motion
was made and seconded to approve the minutes of the December 21, 2005
council meeting. (RC 6 yes)
Mayor’s
Correspondence –
Mayor Patterson made 2006 Committee appointments.
Committees stay the same with the addition of a Building Committee with
Rogers, Gossett and Loos serving on committee.
Mayor Patterson appointed Debbie Wyler to replace
Gary Loos on the Zoning Board of Appeals.
Mayor Patterson presented council with State of
Village address.
Fire
Chief, Gaylord Hill presented council with the 2005 annual report for the
fire department. The department is working on upcoming training regarding
Meth Labs. The department has completed NIMS training.
Citizens’
comments – N/A
Reports:
Village Administrator: Presented council with
an invoice from GGC for retainer in the amount of $100.00. A motion was
made and seconded to retain GGC. (RC 6 yes). Lusk would like to obtain
quotes from Hitchens for services. Water and Sewer rates increased 3% and
2% effective with Jan. 13th billing.

Community Service: Newsletter info needed
ASAP. Council decided to print only one (1) newsletter per year.
Finance: N/A
Fire: 17 runs in December. As reported by
Chief Hill the ATV has been a tremendous help to the department.
Fire Dependency Board: N/A
Grant Applications: N/A
Insurance: N/A
Ordinance: Solicitor Owens gave committee a
draft of the noise ordinance to review.
Planning Commission: Still looking for
secretary
Pool: Schedule meeting. Discussed attendance
of surrounding pools.
Rep to Chamber of Commerce: Banquet set for
Feb. 9th @ 6:00 pm.
Utility: N/A
Clerk’s report: Busy time in the office.
Payroll has been closed for year 2005. Working on Finance year-end. W-2’s
have been sent to employees. Received rates for Workers Comp for year 2006
due in 2007. Also received Ohio Municipal League Roster to be completed.
Fiscal Officer invited council to her office at any time.
Other
Business: Owens reported that he attended an Ohio Municipal League
conference and unsightly property was discussed. Council expressed their
appreciation of West Main Street improvements by owners.

A motion
was made and seconded to approve the payment of bills as presented.

A motion was made and seconded at 8:25 pm to enter into
Executive Session to discuss Village personnel.
A motion was made and seconded at 9:45 pm to return to
regular session with no action taken.
A motion was made and seconded to adjourn until the
next regular meeting on January 23, 2006 at 7:00 P.M. (RC 6 yes)
