Minutes of West Lafayette Village Council Regular Meeting on July 10, 2006

 

West Lafayette Village Council met in regular session at 7:00 P.M., in the municipal building with Mayor Jack L. Patterson presiding.

 

Pledge of Allegiance

 

Roll Call:          Dave Rogers, Roger Warne, Kelly Gossett, Ron Lusk, Christie Maurer and Gary Loos were present.

 

A motion was made and seconded to approve the minutes of the June 26, 2006 council meeting. (RC 6 yes)

A motion was made and seconded to approve the minutes of the June 30, 2006 special council meeting (RC 6 yes)

 

Mayor’s Correspondence – Letter from George Voinovich introducing Ms. Cara Dingus, district representative, director of his Southeast office.  She will have office hours in Coshocton July 11th from 4:30-5:30 at the Coshocton Public Library.

                        ODNR- Map modernization flood risk will be done for the village beginning the summer of 2007.

 

Citizens’ comments:            Mike Benner – Update on CMI upgrades

Gene Flynn- would like some limestone in ally between Water and Park street.  VA to look at alley.

 

Introduction to ordinances and resolutions:

ORDINANCE 2006-08:  ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE 77-94, 85-11 & 2001-09, TO PROVIDE FOR MAINTENANCE OF AND DDILAPIDATED STRUCTURE OR ANY UNSANITARY PREMISES OR NOXIOUS REAL ESTATE, PROVIDING FOR ERADICATION OF NUISANCES, PROVIDING DEFINITIONS, PENALTIES AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.  A motion was made to suspend the rules.  No second.  Motion failed.  First reading given.

 

Reports:

Village Administrator:  Update was given concerning Brownfield.  A phone conference was held on July 5th.  A letter was received from ODD providing the VA with details that need to de done.  One request was the village consolidate firms.  VA checked with Meek Construction requiring job at the fire station.  Lights have been fixed.  VA recommends paying bill.  VA passed to council new call out sheets.

Police:  Lt. Mardis gave monthly report for June 2006.

Lt. Mardis gave a report on the Ohio Leg system and capabilities.  Police chief reported that an invoice has been sent to Chris Williams regarding damage to cruiser.

Community Service:  N/A

Finance:  Public hearing for 2007 budget was held.  A motion was made and seconded to adopt 2007 budget.  (RC 6 yes)

Fire:  15 runs in month of June.  606 Rescue is down.

Fire Dependency Board:  N/A

Grant Applications:  N/A

Insurance:  N/A

Ordinance:  Met and working on wage and benefit ordinance for 2007.

Planning Commission: Met and discussed making an index for planning book.

Pool:  Operations are going well at the pool. Revenues are ahead of expenditures at this point.

Rep to Chamber of Commerce:  Rogers expressed appreciation for the communities support at the Homecoming. Gospel in the Park sponsored by First Baptist Church.

Utility:  N/A

Building:   N/A

Clerk’s report:  Monthly expense and revenue report available.

A motion was made and seconded to approve the payment of bills as presented.
