Minutes of West Lafayette Village Council Regular Meeting on November 27, 2006

 

West Lafayette Village Council met in regular session at 7:00 P.M., in the municipal building with Mayor Jack L. Patterson presiding.

 

Pledge of Allegiance

 

Roll Call:          Roger Warne, Kelly Gossett, Ron Lusk, Christie Maurer and Gary Loos were present.

 

A motion was made and seconded to excuse council member Dave Rogers from the meeting. (RC 5 yes)

 

A motion was made and seconded to approve the minutes of the November 13, 2006 council meeting. (RC 5 yes)

Introduction to ordinances and resolutions:

2006-19 ORDINANCE TO HIRE A SOLICITOR FOR THE YEAR 2007.

A motion was made by council member Warne to suspend the rules and seconded by council member Lusk. (RC 5 yes) Motion made by council member Lusk to adopt ordinance 2006-19 and seconded by council member Warne. (RC 5 yes)

2006-20 AN ORDINANCE TO ESTABLISH 2007 BENEFIT, PAY SCHEDULE/SCALE FOR THE VILLAGE OF WEST LAFAYETTE AND REPEALING ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT THEREWITH. First reading given.

 

Reports:

Committee Meetings:

Village Administrator: Jeff Emerson from Tonka quoted $42,000 to replace both water filters. This includes labor and material.  To replace only one filter would be $28,000. This would save the village $14,000 if council approves to replace both filters now. Plans to schedule this project would be mid December. The finance committee will discuss this situation further. VA also reported a water break Friday night in the 500 block of 5th Street

            Police: N/A

            Annexation: N/A

Community Service: Flower baskets will be ready on December 1 for the street department to put out.

Finance: Committee met on the 20th continuing progress on the 2007 appropriations.  

Fire: The Fire Fighters Association we be hosting the annual Christmas Dinner on Saturday December 9th at 6 pm at the fire station. The department invites the Mayor, council members and their families.

            Fire Dependency Board: N/A

Grant Applications: Some money left to do some small projects. It is too late this year for the black topping project.

            Insurance: N/A

            Ordinance: N/A

            Planning Commission: N/A

Pool: Coshocton County Career Center, building trades, will begin replacing the roof on the 29th.

Rep to Chamber of Commerce: Saturday December 2nd is the Christmas in the Village. Breakfast will be provided by the Lion’s Club, which will begin at 7 am. The Santa parade will start at 1pm beginning on Main Street and ending at Burt Park. Also, Club Aries will have a Craft Show at the high school from 9 am to 2 pm. 

            Utility: N/A

            Building: N/A

Clerk’s report: CMI was in the office on November 16th to install the hardware for the upgrade. Peggy from CMI is training Lisa this week on the new finance and payroll applications.

 

Other Business:

A motion was made by council member Maurer to change the December 25th regular council meeting to December 18th. Council member Gossett seconded motion. (RC 5 yes)

 

 

A motion was made by council member Lusk and seconded by council member Gossett to approve the payment of bills as presented. (RC 5 yes)

 

A motion was made by council member Gossett and seconded by council member Warne to adjourn until the next regular meeting on December 11, 2006 at 7:00 P.M. (RC 5 yes)
