Minutes of West Lafayette Village Council Regular Meeting on December 11, 2006

 

West Lafayette Village Council met in regular session at 7:00 P.M., in the municipal building with Mayor Jack L. Patterson presiding.

 

Pledge of Allegiance

 

Roll Call:          Dave Rogers, Roger Warne, Kelly Gossett, Ron Lusk, Christie Maurer and Gary Loos were present.

 

A motion was made and seconded to approve the minutes of the November 27, 2006 council meeting. (RC 5 yes- 1 abstained)

Mayor’s Correspondence – Brief reading of the December Legislative Bulletin covering the concealed carry bill, open records bill, red light camera bill, PERS bill, and local government task force fund.

 

Citizens’ comments – N/A

 

Introduction to ordinances and resolutions: 2006-20 AN ORDINANCE TO ESTABLISH 2007 BENEFIT, PAY SCHEDULE/SCALE FOR THE VILLAGE OF WEST LAFAYETTE AND REPEALING ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT THEREWITH. Second reading given.

 

Reports:

 

Village Administrator: Tonka will be here second week in January. Materials and supplies will be delivered week of January 8th. EPA will also be here week of January 8th – 10thOEPA will be sampling water and soil from eight separate sites. VA reports that Lafayette Township trustees purchased a new dump truck and they are offering to sell the village their old salt spreader for $800. Council member Rogers made a motion to purchase the salt spreader for Lafayette Township for $800. Council member Warne seconded this motion. (RC 5 yes- 1 no)

            Police: Chief Mardis presented the monthly report. Reported one of his officers had been assaulted and that a window was broken during a felony arrest. Hilltop Salvage donated a replacement window and Tom Bradshaw installed the window.

            Annexation: N/A

            Community Service: Village newsletter will begin soon.

            Finance: Reported meeting discussing the funding for the filter replacement. Waiting to here from the insurance agency. Insurance will possibly pick up a portion of this expense for the village due to faulty equipment.

            Fire: Christmas party went well. Department received the F350 rescue truck. The department is donating the old truck to Finley Fire.

            Fire Dependency Board: N/A

            Grant Applications: N/A

            Insurance: N/A

            Ordinance: N/A

            Planning Commission: N/A

            Pool: Leaving only one area that still needs completed, the Coshocton County Career Center Building Trades has nearly completed the new roof.

            Rep to Chamber of Commerce: Christmas in the village was a hit. 115 kids visited Santa. Christie reported that the craft show was also a success.

            Utility: N/A

            Building: N/A

Clerk’s report: Lisa will be attending an end of year training offered by CMI on Tuesday the 12thi in Westerville. Also, Lisa reported some problems with the new upgrade. Some reports in the finance and utility applications were not re-programmed correctly. However, CMI’s staff is working especially hard on correcting this situation for us.

 

Committee Meetings:

 

A motion was made by council member Lusk and seconded by council member Gossett to approve the payment of bills as presented.

A motion was made by council member Lusk and seconded by council member Loos to adjourn until the next meeting on December 18, 2006 at 7:00 P.M. (RC 6 yes)
