RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE HIRING OF TEMPORARY EMPLOYEE

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Village of West Lafayette, State of Ohio as follows:

WHEREAS a new Fiscal Officer must be appointed; and,

WHEREAS the position is a technical position wherein specialized training is necessary; and,

WHEREAS Dru Prater has that specialized training and has offered to work part time as needed to help train the new Fiscal Officer;

SECTION I.    Dru Prater is hired in a temporary position to work as needed as Interim Fiscal Officer retroactive to July 13, 2006, at the request of the Village Administrator pending the appointment of a new Fiscal Officer and at the request of the new Fiscal Officer after the appointment is made.  After the new Fiscal Officer is appointed, Dru Prater will not be Interim Fiscal Officer, but will still be a part time employee.

SECTION II.   Dru Prater will be on call and will help as she is able while working in her new position for the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Department.

SECTION III:   Presently Dru Prater is the only person practically available to provide this

assistance.  She will be authorized to work part time as long as the new Fiscal Officer needs her and she is able, subject to final approval by Council as to her termination date.

SECTION IV: As compensation Dru Prater will be paid Fourteen and 00/100 ($14.00) Dollars per hour by the Village of West Lafayette, Ohio.  She will be paid in the same manner as other public employees for the Village of West Lafayette, Ohio.

SECTION V:  Money is currently available to pay for this part time position.

SECTION VI: That the Village of West Lafayette, Ohio declares this ordinance to be an emergency necessary for the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of West Lafayette, Ohio for reason that continuity and training is a necessity in the appointment of the new Fiscal Officer.  This resolution is effective immediately upon passage.
