AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE 2006-20

WHEREAS it has been determined a necessity and in the best interest of the citizens of the Village of West Lafayette, Ohio to separate the positions of Police Chief and Village Administrator and to add a classification of Water/Sewer Attendant; and,

WHEREAS it is necessary to establish the existence of separate positions and salary;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the Village of West Lafayette, State of Ohio as follows:

SECTION I.    The position of Water/Sewer Attendant is established as full time.

SECTION II.   The separate positions of Chief of Police and Village Administrator are established and the positions shall be occupied by separate individuals.

SECTION III.   Ordinance 2005-20, Section 2, shall be amended to add the position and compensation as follows:

                        Water/Sewer Attendant, $11.84 per hour full time

All other provisions of Ordinance 2005-20, Section 2 not amended herein shall remain unchanged.

SECTION IV: Ordinance 2005-20, Section 4, shall be amended to add the position and compensation as follows:

                        Chief of Police, $32,500.00 annual, paid bi-weekly

                        Village Administrator $38,000.00 annual, paid bi-weekly

            All other provisions of Ordinance 2005-20, Section 4, not amended herein or previously amended to provide a new salary for the Fiscal Officer/Clerk shall remain unchanged.

SECTION V.  That the Village of West Lafayette, Ohio declares this ordinance to be an emergency necessary for the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of the Village of West Lafayette, Ohio for reason that these positions are needed to commence immediately without delay.  This ordinance is effective immediately upon passage by counsel and signing by the Mayor and posting.

By signing the Fiscal Officer/Clerk attests that sufficient funds are available to pay for said salaries.
