West Lafayette Village Council met in regular session
at 7:00 P.M., in the municipal building with Mayor Jack L. Patterson
presiding.
Pledge of Allegiance
Roll
Call: Dave Rogers, Roger Warne, Kelly Gossett, Ron Lusk, Christie
Maurer and Gary Loos were present.
A motion
was made by council member Lusk and seconded by council member Rogers to
approve the minutes of the February 26, 2007 council meeting. (RC 6 yes)
Mayor’s
Correspondence – Reading of fax from Senator George Voinovich relating to a
financial seminar concerning drinking water and sewer utilities. This
seminar is created to benefit committee officials, village administrators
and fiscal officers. Seminar is March 29th with registration
beginning at 8:30 in the Ohio Department of Agriculture building in
Reynoldsburg.

Introduction to ordinances and resolutions:
2007-06 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE ESTABLISHED 2007
BENEFIT, PAY SCHEDULE/SCALE FOR THE VILLAGE OF WEST LAFAYETTE AND REPEALING
ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT THEREWITH.
Amending ordinance 2007-01 since the Fiscal
Officer’s salary increased with council’s passing. A motion was made by
council member Rogers and seconded by council member Gossett to suspend the
rules for Ordinance 2007-6 (RC 6 yes). A motion was made my council member
Lusk to adopt Ordinance 2007-6 and seconded by council member Rogers (RC 6
yes).
Reports:
Village Administrator: VA reported that
an ad was published in the Tribune to accept bids for the old dump truck;
however, no bids were received. Mayor suggests holding on to the dump truck
until later and possibly using it as a trade in on other equipment for the
street department. Council agreed. Tom also announced the brownfield cleanup
will move into phase II this week. Jim Smith from Brownfield Restoration
group will be here tomorrow along with Chris Osburn from OEPA. They will be
looking for six more well sites within the village.
Police: Chief gave the monthly
report. Bill Owens is currently working on establishing code to site trash
and junk related offenders. Along with several employees from the police
department, Chief Mardis gladly presented former Chief Bradshaw a special
award to acknowledge him for all his work and devotion to the
department. Annexation: N/A
Community Service: N/A
Finance: N/A
Fire: Reported 16 runs for February.
Department also wanted to remind everyone to take time to check batteries in
smoke alarms. The department request limestone in the parking lot.
Fire Dependency Board: Ron and Tom
will work on Issue 2 later.
Grant Applications: N /A
Insurance: N/A
Ordinance: N/A
Planning Commission: N/A
Pool: Committee met and starting
discussing options for 2007 season concerning wages and other expenses. Will
report more in April.
Rep to Chamber of Commerce: Annual
dinner went well. All new officers were introduced. Yellow flag days are
scheduled for May 4th - 5th. Homecoming is July 18th
- 21st.

Clerk’s report: Lisa reported that
the auditors will be in tomorrow to begin the 2005 and 2006 year end audit
for the village.

approve the payment of bills as presented.
