Minutes of West Lafayette Village Council Regular Meeting on June 11, 2007

 

West Lafayette Village Council met in regular session at 7:00 P.M., in the municipal building with Mayor Jack L. Patterson presiding.

 

Pledge of Allegiance

 

Roll Call:          Dave Rogers, Roger Warne, Kelly Gossett, Ron Lusk, Christie Maurer and Gary Loos were present.

 

A motion was made by council member Lusk and seconded by council member Gossett to approve the minutes of the May 29, 2007 council meeting. (RC 5 yes)

 

A motion was made by council member Loos to approve the minutes of the June 4, 2007 special meeting. Motion seconded by council member Lusk. (RC 6 yes)

Mayor’s Correspondence –  Letter from Marc Dann, Attorney General, with reference to law enforcement concerning games of skill. 

Citizens’ comments – N/A

 

Introduction to ordinances and resolutions:

2007-13 A RESOLUTION TO AMEND THE 2007 PERMANENT APPROPRIATIONS ORDINANCE 2006-21, ADDING FUNDS

Motion was made by council member Rogers to suspend the rules and seconded by council member Gossett. (RC 6 yes) Council member Rogers made a motion to adopt Resolution 2007-13. Motion seconded by council member Loos. (RC 6 yes)

 

Reports:

 

Village Administrator: Coshocton City will be in on Wednesday morning to do the hook up the new restrooms by the football field.

                   Police: Monthly report. Chief reported, to the council and mayor, a few concerns from residents regarding stop signs.

                   Annexation: N/A

                   Community Service: N/A

                   Finance: Committee chairman Gary Loos reported that the committee met this evening and starting working on 2008 budget.

                   Fire: Monthly report. 14 runs. Fire department had meeting last Wednesday.

                   Fire Dependency Board: N/A

                   Grant Applications: Ron Lusk reported that the CDBG grant was not granted to the Village. Currently working on the Issue II grant.

                   Insurance: N/A

                   Ordinance: N/A

                   Planning Commission: N/A

                   Pool: Pool opened on Saturday the 9th. Still working out a few minor problems but all looks well for the 2007 pool season.

                   Rep to Chamber of Commerce: Strawberry Festival was on Saturday the 9th. Homecoming will be July 18-21st.

                   Utility: N/A

                   Building: N/A

Clerk’s report: Checking on community bulletin computer. Receiving several resumes for street laborer. Ad for the Village Administrator will run Saturday the 9th thru Friday the 15th.

Committee Meetings:

Other Business:

                        Council member Lusk reported updates on the proposed ball diamonds at the water treatment plant. Due to the fact that some cars may possibly leak oil or other material that can be hazardous to the ground, clay will be required to be put down for the parking lot area. Also, one-way streets maybe enforced for entering and existing the parking lot area.

 

Council member Loss made a motion to move into executive session to discuss village personnel. Council member Lusk seconded this motion. (RC 6 yes)

 

At 8:55 pm, Council member Rogers made a motion to move back into open session. Motion seconded by council member Gossett. (RC 6 yes)

Council member Loos made a motion to pay Tom Bradshaw comp time of 40 hours. Motion seconded by council member Lusk. (RC 6 yes)

A motion was made by council member Gossett to update the ad for the Village Administrator to include preferred water and or wastewater licenses. Motion seconded by council member Rogers. (RC 6 yes)

 

A motion was made and seconded to approve the payment of bills as presented.

(RC 6 yes)

 

A motion was made by council member Lusk and seconded by council member Gossett to adjourn until the next regular meeting on June 25, 2007at 7:00 P.M. (RC 6 yes)
