West Lafayette Village Council met in regular session
at 7:00 P.M., in the municipal building with Mayor Jack L. Patterson
presiding.
Pledge of Allegiance
Roll
Call: Dave Rogers, Roger Warne, Kelly Gossett, Ron Lusk, Christie
Maurer and Gary Loos were present.
A motion
was made and seconded to approve the minutes of the June 25, 2007
(RC 6 yes)
Mayor’s
Correspondence – Notice for OEPA with updates about the Ethanol Plant.
Citizens’
comments – Lee Bethel and Larry Cornelius representing the summer recreation
board discussed progress with the three new baseball diamonds. Ohio Regional
Planning grant will pay up to 75% of the cost if granted. One requirement is
all cost associated with the construction must be in the Village’s name.
Also, the Village must show a long-term vested interest in the park. Council
decided to have the grant application committee meet with the summer
recreation board to further discuss other details. Committee will advise
council after meeting with summer recreation board.
Introduction to ordinances and resolutions:
A RESOLUTION TO
AMEND THE 2007 PERMANENT APPROPRIATIONS ORDINANCE 2006-21, ADDING FUNDS.
A motion was made my council member Rogers to suspend the rules. Motion
seconded by council member Lusk. (RC 6 yes) council member Rogers made a
motion to adopt Resolution 2007-15. Motion seconded by council member
Gossett. (RC 6 yes)
Reports:
Village Administrator:
Mayor discussed e-mailed that he received from T.J. Justice. He is
requesting water and sewer information to build a database to help develop
potential economical growth. Mayor suggested to council to accept bids on
the ½ ton pick-up truck and the dump truck. Council member Lusk made a
motion to authorize Lisa to advertise and accept bids. Motion seconded by
council member Loos. (RC 6 yes) Bids will close July 23rd at 4:00
pm.
Police: Monthly report.

Community Service: Council member
Maurer would like the welcome banners to be put up before the Homecoming
next week.
Finance: The 2008 budget hearing was
held at 6:15 pm today before the regular council meeting. Chairman Loos
recommends council accept the 2008 budget and have Lisa submit it to the
County Auditor.
Fire: 20 runs for the month of June.
Fire Dependency Board: N/A
Grant Applications: N/A
Insurance: Chairman Gossett would
like to gather the health/medical insurance information for review.
Ordinance: N/A
Planning Commission: N/A
Pool: Red Cross swimming lessons
started today. Mayor presented check from Mike & B sales for $600.00.
Donation is to repair or purchase a new ice machine for the swimming pool.
Rep to Chamber of Commerce:
Homecoming is next week. Asking for volunteers for Thursday night 5-8 and
8-close and Saturday afternoon. Please let Christy Maurer know if you are
willing to volunteer.

community computer.
Other
Business:
Mayor
announced that council has agreed to re-assign job specifications for Chad
Hains to benefit the village. Chad will still perform his regular
responsibilities at the water and sewer department and also work in the
street department as a general street laborer.

A motion
was made by council member Lusk and seconded by council member Gossett to
approve the payment of bills as presented.
