West Lafayette Village Council met in regular session
at 7:00 P.M., in the municipal building with Mayor Jack L. Patterson
presiding.
Pledge of Allegiance

Call: Dave Rogers, Roger Warne, Kelly Gossett, Ron Lusk, Christie
Maurer and Gary Loos were present.
A motion
was made by council member Rogers and seconded by council member Lusk to
approve the minutes of the August 27, 2007 council meeting. (RC 5 yes)
Mayor’s
Correspondence –Ohio Municipal League announces a free public records
certified training seminar held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Cincinnati.
Letter from GGC Engineers concerning 2007 OPWC grant loan application. This
service is included in the yearly retainer agreement. Annual discharge fee
of $1050.00 for the Ohio EPA is due January 31, 2008. Letter from Coshocton
Port Authority, T.J. Justice, thanking Mayor and council for meeting and
discussing the economic and community development for the village. He is
suggesting possibilities of receiving a $25,000 grant for improvements to
the village pool.
Citizens’
comments – Leroy Bethel with the Summer Recreation Board updated council
with the progress with the construction of the ball diamonds at the water
treatment plant. Still waiting on final quote for fencing. Leroy assured
council that the Summer Recreation Board is certain they have the 25% needed
to cover the expenses that the grant doesn’t cover.

Village Administrator: Traffic
light on Main and Kirk is still down. The circuit board was damaged by
lighting in mid August and was sent to California to be replaced. Also the
diesel back up generator at the water treatment plant was struck by
lighting. Some repairs have been made. The clutch in the red dump truck will
be replaced shortly.

Finance: Committee Chairman Loos reported
all village finances are in good standing.
Fire: 13 runs for the month of August.
Fire Dependency Board: N/A
Grant Applications: N/A
Insurance: Health insurance renewal is due
October 1, 2007. The health insurance has increased 10%, which is $851.87
more per month. Village can save $25.00 per month if we use electronic fund
transfer.
Ordinance: N/A
Planning Commission: A resident on West
Main Street is asking if she can replace a 17 x 72 mobile home with a double
wide. Also resident at 114 West Main is asking if any concerns with her
husband opening a bicycle repair shop.
Pool: N/A
Rep to Chamber of Commerce: Trick or treat
in the village will be October 31st at 5:30pm to 6:30pm.
Utility: N/A
Building: N/A
Clerk’s report: Lisa will attend training
in Cambridge on October 17th for fiscal officers. Lisa will
contact sales representative from CMI again to further discuss issues with
the utility application.
