West Lafayette Village Council met in regular session
at 7:00 P.M., in the municipal building with Mayor Jack L. Patterson
presiding.
Pledge of Allegiance

Call: Dave Rogers, Roger Warne, Kelly Gossett, Ron Lusk, Christie
Maurer and Gary Loos were present.
A motion
was made by council member Loos and seconded by council member Lusk to
approve the minutes of the November 26, 2007 council meeting. (RC 6 yes)
Mayor’s
Correspondence –Letter from Time Warner Cable about the new state franchise
law adopted earlier October, Road Runner getting faster and local on demand.

Introduction to ordinances and resolutions:
2007-34 AN ORDINANCE TO ESTABLISH
2008 BENEFIT, PAY SCHEDULE/SCALE FOR THE VILLAGE OF WEST LAFAYETTE AND
REPEALING ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT THEREWITH.

Village Administrator:
VA is working with Fred Wachtel to develop safety classes for our employees
to attend. Lafayette Township has donated a salt spreader to the Village.
However, the engine just blew up and now needs replaced. The engine is about
7 years old. VA has given a lot of recognition to John Newell for preparing
well for the snowstorm that hit the village on Tuesday and Thursday night of
last week. VA also reports that he has been working on updating the water
and sewer policies.
Police: Chief Mardis reported
that he had the motor replaced in his car. This cost $1,847.00. After the
first of the year, Chief Mardis will educate the third graders at Ridgewood
how to properly use their safety belts. The department will receive $4.00
per child from the State of Ohio for this guidance. Chief and his staff
have attended numerous educational programs.

Building: At 7:45 pm, Council
member Rogers made a motion to move into executive session to discuss
possible purchase of land. Motion seconded by Council member Loos. At 8: 35
Council member Lusk made a motion to continue into regular session. Motion
seconded by Council member Warne. (RC 6 yes) Council member Warne made a
motion to give the Village Administrator authorization to investigate
possible land purchase. Motion seconded by Council member Lusk. (RC 6yes)
Clerk’s report: Received a
check from Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company for the insurance claim from
this summer. Total amount of the claim was $4,797.06. The Village was
responsible for a $1,000.00 deductible. Therefore, the village was
reimbursed $3,797.06 for their loss. Shannon asked Lisa to have all council
members to sign a confidentiality agreement for the census project. Lisa and
Ron will meet with GGC Engineers on Wednesday morning to discuss progress
with the Ohio Nature Works Grant for the West Lafayette Ball Diamond Park.

approve the payment of bills as presented.

by Council member Maurer to adjourn until the next meeting on December 17,
