Minutes of West Lafayette Village Council Regular Meeting on December 08, 2008

West Lafayette Village Council met in regular session at 7:00 P.M., in the municipal building with Mayor Jack L. Patterson presiding.

Pledge of Allegiance

Roll Call:         Dave Rogers, Roger Warne, Kelly Gossett, Ron Lusk, Christie Maurer and Gary Loos were present.

A motion was made and seconded to approve the minutes of the November 24, 2008                   council meeting. (RC 6 yes)

Introduction to ordinances and resolutions:

2008-41      ORDINANCE TO AUTHORIZE AND DIRECT THE MAYOR TO SIGN AN EMPLOYMENT AND NON-COMPETITIVE AGREEMENT WITH TYE TWAROG. Rogers made a motion to suspend the rules. Motion seconded by Lusk. (RC 6 yes) Rogers made a motion to adopt Ordinance 2008-41. Motion seconded by Lusk. (RC 6 yes).

2008-42      AN ORDINANCE TO ESTABLISH 2009 BENEFIT, PAY SCHEDULE/SCALE FOR THE VILLAGE OF WEST LAFAYETTE AND REPEALING ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT THEREWITH. Warne made a motion to suspend the rules. Motion seconded by Loos. (RC 6 yes) Lusk made a motion to adopt Ordinance 2008-42. Motion seconded by Maurer. (RC 6 yes).

2008-43      A RESOLUTION TO AMEND THE 2008 PERMANENT APPROPRIATIONS ORDINANCE 2007-35, ADDING FUNDS Rogers made a motion to suspend the rules. Motion seconded by Lusk. (RC 6 yes) Lusk made a motion to adopt Resolution 2008-43. Motion seconded by Gossett. (RC 6 yes).

Reports:

Village Administrator: VA reported no major equipment break downs. We received our salt for the season. VA also reported that he has submitted all final reports to FEMA. VA asked for council’s approval to allow Tye Twarog to take a 2009 vacation day in 2008. Councilman Lusk made a motion to allow Tye to take a 2009 vacation day in 2008. Motion seconded by Rogers. (RC 6 yes)

            Police: Chief Mardis informed all Council Members, Mayor, and Lisa of a House Bill 9 training being offered free of charge. This class is January 13^th at Dutch Valley restaurant. Monthly report

            Clerk’s report: Lisa reported that the 2009 appropriations are ready for County Auditor’s approval. Lisa is getting ready for tax season.
